THE NIGHTSTALKER

2021-ONGOING

"The Nightstalker” is an ongoing thought-provoking exploration of human dynamics in the transformative energy of Beirut’s underground night scene, where individuals transcend barriers and inhibitions, forming a brief but intimate bond with a stranger—the photographer.

Within the heart of these gatherings, I seek the consent of strangers to capture their chest area. Shot in POV style, each photograph portrays not only the physical act of baring their chests but also the liberation and audacity that lie therein.  To emphasize the trust, safety, and intimacy present in these environments, I intentionally and consensually include my hand in the frame, resting it on their chests. The encounter becomes not only visual, but tactile, creating a sensorial connection between the subject, the photographer and the audience.

Through the lens of my iPhone, I preserve the spontaneity and authenticity that define these encounters. The unassuming nature of the device, coupled with the subjects' consent, allows them to feel at ease, creating an environment where they can freely and confidently express themselves.

The essence of this series lies in celebrating the profound courage to break free from societal norms and embrace one's authentic self within the cocoon of Beirut's underground scene. Through this body of work, I endeavor to inspire a collective appreciation for the unapologetic expression of self and the beauty of consent-driven vulnerability, in a society that often inhibits all that.
